Aleppo Pepper Chili Oil

Servings 1 cup or so


  • 1 cup sunflower oil
  • 2 tablespoons Aleppo pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon zest
  • 2 teaspoons tamari
  • 1 teaspoon coconut sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 small jalapeno, deseeded and diced small
  • 1 clove garlic, pressed
  • Salt, a pinch
  • Fresh pepper, a few grinds of the mill


  1. Add all of the ingredients to a small saucepan. Turn the heat to low and let sit to cook together for 5 or so minutes, until the oil is just starting to sizzle.

  2. Take off the heat and let cool completely. Store in an airtight jar in the refrigerator.
