Basic Marinated Baked Tofu

I make tofu weekly. It has really become one of my favorite ingredients because it’s easy to make and takes on any flavors you throw at it. Besides my famous golden vacation tofu recipe, this variation makes a regular appearance in the rotation.

I like to serve this tofu with whatever I have on hand, dice it up in a salad or layer it in a sandwich. In this photo, I roasted some mushrooms while the tofu was baking, sautéed kale and served it all together with a sprinkling of hemp seeds, sesame seeds and fresh lemon juice.

Can I be any more vegan!?! Seriously.

Notes:

  • If you don’t have time to bake the tofu, you can cook it right on the stovetop in a cast iron.
  • You can cut the tofu in any shape you like, think triangles or cubes.

Basic Marinated Baked Tofu

This is a very vegan, basic baked tofu recipe.

Course Main Course
Servings 8 pieces of tofu

Ingredients

  • 1 package extra firm tofu
  • 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon tamari
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Add the nooch, olive oil, tamari and maple syrup to a shallow bowl. Whisk together.

  3. Cut the tofu block into 8 pieces by cutting the tofu in half, in half again and then each half in half.

  4. Dip the tofu into the marinade and turn to coat all sides. Place on the baking sheet. Do this for all 8 pieces.

  5. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until the edges are browning. Enjoy!
