Oh my gosh you guys! Have you had Yeah Dawgs yet? We have been lovers of these handmade, artisan “haute” dogs since we first found them at a party at the Catskill Sanctuary a few years back. Now, they are distributed all over and it is time to get your hands one some. We had them for Memorial Day Weekend and you need to have them at your next cookout!
We love eating these with mustard and sauerkraut but my son and I wanted to dress them up special. It was kind of a contest…my husband was the judge. I am still not sure who won.
This first one is my son’s version. He lined the bun with fresh kale from my garden, added the Yeah Dawg, and topped it with a lemony mayo he made all by himself and topped it with sauerkraut and lemon zest. That lemony mayo was Vegenaise, lemon juice, cumin, mustard powder, onion powder, and paprika.
This one is mine. It’s an ode to sausage, peppers and onions. I toasted the bun first, slathered it with mustard and topped it with sautéed onions and peppers.
No matter how you serve them, these are the best vegan hot dogs. You have to try them and let me know what you think!
